Princess Party Princess Party

Series: Fushigiboshi no Futago Hime
Opened since: November 2005
Status: Active
Princess Party is the most comprehensive general site on Fushigiboshi no Futago Hime created by Josephine and I (though Josephine did most of the dirty work). Because of the lack of English fanbase and fansites, we decided to unite our forces to bring you a site based on this cavity-inducing magical girl series! From character profiles on the dashing princes to shiny fanart, we probably have all of your FBnFH needs here!

Lunaris Lunaris

Series: Fullmoon (w)o Sagashite
Opened since: March 2006
Status: Offline
Fullmoon (w)o Sagashite is one of my favorite works by Tanemura Arina. The series is just like another other shoujo series. You have your pretty lead, extremely cute sidekicks, a simple-to-follow storyline, and lots of bubbles and flowers. However, the series sets itself apart from its peers by having distinct characters and even better character development. Well, that and excellent artwork. But Fullmoon does more than shine in its genre - it draws out an emotional story anyone can enjoy.

Lunaris began as a manga image gallery, but it is now to be a general fansite too. The media section will remain about the same size, but the site's emphasis has been broadened quite a bit.

Characters

Boiling Point Boiling Point
http://ruby-eye.net/lina
Series: Slayers
Character: Lina Inverse
Opened since: May 2005
Status: Active
Lina Inverse is not your typical female protagonist. She is impulsive, fowl-mouthed, short-tempered, and insensitive to other people's feelings. She feels no extreme guilt through using her friends as scapegoats in order to fulfill her goals and, despite her great feats, has no canon fanboys or fangirls. On the contrary, she strikes fear into the hearts of many, not admiration or love.

I illustrated her character rather negatively, but Lina's non-conformity is her charm and the reason why I like Lina so much (along with all the other awesome female characters in Slayers). Finding strong and independent women like her is hard in just about every fictional media. While a good amount of Lina fansites are still online, most of them are no longer updated. With the novel series being translated and new TV series about to air, Boiling Point could not have a better reason to be online.

Moonflower Moonflower

Series: Tsukihime
Character: Kohaku
Opened since: July 2007
Status: Active
Tsukihime is considered the one of the best eroge out there. Even though an (unofficial) English translation is available, there are only a finger-countable number of fansites online. Taking this fact as my chance to boost the fandom love, I signed up for the Kohaku fanlisting and, in turn, created Moonflower. I might have lost the fanlisting, but the fansite is nearly complete and still growing strong.

Ciel and Aoko are my favorite characters, but no one's backstory blew me away like Kohaku's. If Tsukihime could not happen because of one character, it would definitely be Kohaku. Discussing Kohaku cannot be done without giving out spoilers, but she is not what she seems. The site only covers her character in the game, but I might add information on the manga soon.

Pink Pearl Pink Pearl
http://ruby-eye.net/lucia
Series: Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch (PURE)
Character: Nanami Lucia
Status: Static
Opened since: July 2005
Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi is a very cheesy and predictable magical girl series. Just like the show, Lucia is not a very unique character. She embodies all of the typical magical girl leader qualities and more. However, Lucia's bravery and heart are worth admiring. Also, most people I've seen idolize the pairing Lucia x Kaito without thinking about the main lassie.

Besides the unoriginal series and characters, the fandom does not have many bright crayons either. I once owned a Hanon fansite, but I shortly decided to close it due to lost interest in the series. At the same time, a friend of mine was adopting out her Lucia shrine, and I adopted it in my own collective. At one point, I contemplated closing this site. However, I didn't when I realized the lack of fansites for Lucia and the series in general. Add all of the super-special ingredients together. What do you get? Pink Pearl!

Sapphire Waters Sapphire Waters
http://ruby-eye.net/umi
Series: Magic Knight Rayearth
Character: Ryuuzaki Umi
Opened since: May 2006
Status: Active
Magic Knight Rayearth is one of CLAMP's earlier magical girl series, and Sapphire Waters is the only site I made based on the show or anything CLAMP-related. Unlike its siblings in the genre, Rayearth incorporates more than just magical girls. Yes, you have sorcery, but you also have swordplay, action, adventure, and drama not concentrated on the main girls screwing a guy falling in love. Sure, there is romance, but that is not the entire focus or goals of the three main girls. Like any other magical girl series, this is a coming of age story. However, it handles things rather freshly, especially considering the time it was created.

Ryuuzaki Umi is not your typical water-wielder and fencer. She is anything but calm and collected; Umi is outspoken and energetic, and her attacks are offensive instead of defensive or healing. Though she has her flaws, her strengths outweigh them. Like her two allies, she is kind, resourceful, and dutiful. Her growth as a warrior and adolescent is remarkable to watch and is why I decided to make a tribute to her.

Aurora Aurora
http://moon.ruby-eye.net/emira
Series: Fate/stay night
Character(s): Emiya Shirou x Matou Sakura
Opened since: June 2007
Status: Offline
I am not much of a big shipper, but I absolute love Shirou and Sakura's relationship. No crack pairing or threesome can even come close, not even Kotomine x Gilgamesh x Lancer. The first few days of the game are subtle in showing his feelings for Sakura. Yes, these feelings were not enough to stop him for falling in love with Saber or Rin in the other routes, but the Heaven's Feel route shows how beautifully their bond blossoms. Along with that, Shirou and Sakura both gain and give a bit to each other, Shirou turning into a true adult and Sakura attaining happiness from being with Shirou.

Aurora started out as a combined fanlisting and fansite, but the fanlisting was closed due to lack of interest (in maintaining fanlistings, not the site). The fansite will provide information not only on the pairing, but on Shirou and Sakura as individual characters. So I suppose it's a relationship + character fansite.

Woman of Valor
http://key.ruby-eye.net/haruko
Series: AIR
Character: Kamio Haruko
Opened since: June 2007
Status: Offline
AIR is one of the few games/animanga that I like every character. Misuzu is my favorite amongst the cast, but Haruko is such a wonderful character. She may seem laidback and ever-cheerful, but she is truly a troubled person inside. She made some really stupid mistakes in her life, even accepting her living situation with Misuzu passively. However, like the name of the site suggests, she gathered up all the courage she had in her and tried to do something before it was too late. The story the mother and daughter share in AIR is so beautiful, and it makes me wish more fictional works would explore the bond a child and parent share together.

Woman of Valor began as a combined fansite and fanlisting. The fanlisting is closed as of June 2008, but the fansite component is still alive and kicking.
