Opinion: Nakata Asumi's voice took a while for me to warm up to, but I can say that I always thought she had a unique voice. Rather than emulating a sqeaky, high-pitched voice, Nakata went with a somewhat nasaly (which can sound cute if done right), low-pitched one. It really was nice to hear a young girl like Lucia not have an ear-shattering and overly cutesy voice for once. As for her singing skills, I felt relatively neutral about her earlier songs, but I think she improved dramatically throughout the course of the show. In my opinion, her version of
Nanatsu no Umi no Monogatari is the best amongst the solo mermaid versions.
