Lucia is the mermaid princess of the North Pacific Ocean and is the main character of Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. When she was six, Lucia fell in love with a human boy. On that night, an accident occurred on the ship the boy was in. Lucia managed to reach the boy to dry land and ended up giving her pearl to him. Seven years later, Lucia came to the dry land in order to find it (thus where the series starts). (To find out more about Lucia's love life, please refer to the Love section.)

Lucia lives and works at the Pearl Piarre Hotel. She's currently living with Nikora, her "older sister on human land (she's really a mermaid from Lucia's kingdom), Hippo, Lucia's guardian, and Taki, a fortune teller from her kingdom. She also attends a local junior high school with Hanon and Rina, the Aqua and Green Pearl princesses, respectively.

Personality-wise, Lucia is a very kind, bubbly, and simple-minded person. She's outgoing, optimistic, and can befriend anyone with ease. She can be very thick-headed and naïve, but her determination makes up for it. She, as many protagonists in the magical girl genre, is clumsy and slightly ditzy. She easily messes up small things and doesn't come up with a solid plan before leaping into a situation. She's also horrible with directions. In addition, Lucia gets easily flustered, especially around Kaito. For example, whenever she tries to sing to him in human form, she ends up singing off-key.

Lucia is an excellent cook and is good at making things from bead kits. She wasn't always great in the kitchen, but she eventually learned how to make a good meal. She also enjoys singing and is a very good singer in her mermaid and idol forms. In her human form, however, Lucia is known to have a terrible singing voice.

As mentioned above, Lucia is very determined with her goals. If she isn't able to do something one way, she'll try to find another way. She isn't impulsive (for the most part), but she tends to leap before she looks in most situations. Even if she isn't the best planner, Lucia is a very good leader. Her bravery is one point which makes her good for battle. She could go through anything to protect her loved ones.

Lucia is not only a mermaid princess. With the pink pearl, Lucia can transform to her alter-ego, Pink Pearl Voice. As Pink Pearl Voice, she can weaken her enemies with a song and dance performance. Her transformation phrase in the anime is "Pink Pearl Voice!" and her main offensive attack is "Love Shower Pitch!" In some parts of the series, Lucia and the gang get new songs and one power-up. The songs that are granted exclusively to Lucia (in other words, the songs that are considered to be her image songs) are Splash Dream and MOTHER SYMPHONY.
