Hanon
Houssho Hanon is the princess of the South Atlantic Ocean. Hanon came on human land before Lucia. She recognizes Lucia to be the princess of the North Pacific Ocean when she first saw her, but she did not give away her identity very quickly. Instead, Hanon introduces herself as a fellow classmate and tries to bond with Lucia - she does the latter by inviting her to go window-shopping with her and teasing her about Kaito. Hanon reveals her identity (as a mermaid princess) after Kaito's surfing contest (around episode 2 in the TV series, first chapter in manga). Unlike the friendly facade she showed Lucia before, Hanon immediately expresses dislike in Lucia's love interest, saying that she should not even think of falling in love with a human. She also reminds Lucia that she would turn into foam if she revealed her identity to Kaito. Ironically, Hanon retracts this notion when she finds herself falling in love with a human, specifically her music teacher, Tarou.Hanon and Lucia get along very well; they are the best of friends. Both girls are cheery and outgoing, although Hanon seems to approach things more tactfully than Lucia. After Hanon falls in love with Tarou, she begins supporting Lucia's love interest and provides her many tips and tricks to try (and obtain it without turning into foam in the process). Lucia and Hanon do get into occasional arguments with each other, usually because of Lucia's impulsiveness and Hanon's disapproval to the action. However, these are not large enough to break their close friendship.
